Our mission is to advance the quality of English language teaching in the Kurdistan Region by providing ongoing professional development opportunities, supporting research and innovation, building strong networks among educators, and fostering collaboration with national and international stakeholders, including TESOL International and its affiliates. 

The Kurdistan Association of TESOL Educators is a prospective regional affiliate network of the TESOL International Association and it shares and supports TESOL’s mission and core values. This community of EFL professionals seeks to advance the quality of English language teaching through professional development, research, holding annual regional conferences and sending representatives to attend the International TESOL Convection and Language Expos in US. The purpose of Affiliation with TESOL International Association is to encourage the sharing of knowledge and information, and to encourage the development of cooperative events, projects, and initiatives between and among TESOL and our Affiliate Association to advance excellence in the field of English language teaching.

Foster Professional Development: Provide ongoing training, workshops, and resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of EFL educators in Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Promote Research and Innovation: Encourage and support research initiatives aimed at improving English language teaching methodologies and approaches within the region

Facilitate Networking and Collaboration: Create opportunities for EFL professionals to connect, share best practices, and collaborate on projects that contribute to the advancement of English language education in Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Represent Kurdistan at International TESOL Events: Send representatives to attend the International TESOL Convention and Language Expos in the US, fostering global connections and bringing insights back to the local community

Advocate for English Language Education: Advocate for the importance of English language education at local, regional, and national levels, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve access and quality of English language instruction in Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Professional Development Initiatives: KATE organizes regular workshops, seminars, and training sessions conducted by experienced educators and experts. It may also offer online courses and resources accessible to members, fostering continuous learning and skill enhancement

Research Support: KATE encourages and supports EFL professionals in conducting research through grants, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities. It may establish partnerships with academic institutions to facilitate research collaborations and access to resources

Networking Events: KATE hosts networking events such as conferences, symposiums, and forums where educators can share insights, collaborate on projects, and build professional relationships. These events may also feature keynote speakers and panel discussions on relevant topics

Conference Organization: KATE takes the lead in organizing annual regional conferences, inviting local and international speakers to present on emerging trends, best practices, and research findings in English language teaching. These conferences serve as platforms for knowledge dissemination and professional growth

International Representation: KATE selects representatives to attend the International TESOL Convention and Language Expos in the US, enabling them to network with professionals from around the world, participate in workshops and sessions, and bring back valuable insights and resources to share with the local community

Advocacy and Collaboration: KATE engages in advocacy efforts by collaborating with government agencies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to advocate for policies and initiatives that promote English language education. It may also participate in community outreach programs to increase awareness of the importance of English language proficiency.
